Other Services“Trusted, Professional, Dallas Tree Service Company.”Tree TransplantingTree Transplanting is the relocation of existing trees to a new more suitable or visually appealing location. Properly evaluating all current conditions as well as future environmental and growth concerns will help assure a higher percentage of survival, health, and value to your transplanted trees. Tree transplanting is a process of uprooting the tree root ball with a tree spade and transporting the tree and soil ball to a new location for planting. It is important to understand that tree transplanting is a delicate process and many factors determine the survival rate of transplanted trees. Some of these factors include: variety of tree, existing location, destination planting site, maturity of tree, etc. A Dallas Arbor Care arborist will carefully evaluate all factors and place a valued assessment of your tree transplanting project. Tree Watering & Maintenance Instructions:Watering Instructions:Most transplant and new tree losses are the direct result of over or under watering. It is important to understand soil conditions and species of tree/s to be planted when evaluating watering care. Time of year, rain amounts, and planting site, will also be contributors in determining your trees watering schedule. Proper watering begins with the proper hose. A soaker hose spiraled around the trunk of the tree and extending outward to the edge of the drip line (edge of canopy) will ensure the entire soil ball is obtaining the proper moisture levels. Please consult a Dallas Arbor Care arborist to establish your newly planted or transplanted trees watering schedule. Mulching:Mulch helps protect a trees trunk from unwanted damage, retain soil moisture levels, regulate soil temperatures, as well, serves as a source of nutrients to new or transplanted trees. Mulch should be kept back from the trunk base and no more than 4”-6” should be first applied. As mulch decomposes and settles a thin layer of mulch may be added at 0.5”-1” (no more than twice seasonally). Fertilizing:Fertilizer if applied correctly can help aid in the reestablishment of some transplanted trees. New trees are most always planted with a slow release fertilizer great in establishing a farm grown tree in a residential lawn. Transplanted trees are different and often require more attention, but fertilization is not always the answer. Most transplanted trees with the help of a root stimulator and proper watering will establish healthy growth if maintenance procedures are carefully monitored and maintained. Insect Control:Newly planted and transplanted trees are often the victims of boring insects, ants, wasps, bees, and other airborne and colonized insects. To be sure your tree sustains healthy growth over the years it is important to keep an eye out for any unwanted insect activity. Sap oozing from the trunk, swarms of bees, wasps, yellow jackets flying in or around the canopy, irregular holes around the trunk, and noticeable ant traffic up and down the tree trunk are all signs of possible insect infestation. The difference in assuring your trees future success will be protecting against pest and insects. Excavating:Do not dig in or around the soil ball of a newly planted or transplanted tree for the first two years. Construction should be avoided all together and even such small mistakes as shallow flower beds around trunk bases, and loose stones have caused trees to suffer unnecessary shock from post planting excavation.
